Any ideas on how to remove the rear main hub nut on 996 C2, used impact wrench, wd, heat etc....no joy

Ha! I can't believe how bloody tight it was! surely doesn't need to be that tight, thought I was going to have to grind it off.:ROFLMAO:

breaker bar plus scaffolding pole and large weight. They need to be tightened up this tight as wellwhen finished

Nut torque setting is 340 ibft or 460 Nm i.e. 50lb sack of spuds at a distance of 7 feet from the centre!!!! so you need a long pole to stand on.

Remember using a large bar and scaffolding pole when I removed mine. Had to jump up and down on the end of it as I broke my torsion bar due to its loading which was half that required.

Just wondered how you are going to tighten it up again

Maybe worth a visit to your local garage/Specialist

I have got a really big Socket 36mm I think that uses a large breaker bar - bought it for the FRont Socket on a quattro engine!!

Its a 32mm nut, fortunately I have an impact socket and my friendly local garage have agreed to lend me the correct torque wrench for the job when I need it!
