Brake Wear

Brakes have been checked on my 2007 Boxster S.
Pads are down to 4-5mm and disks are 50% worn with 1mm to go before minimum thickness reached.
Is it worth changing the pads now, on the assumption that one set of disks ought to last for two sets of pads, or do disks and pads generally have to be changed at the same time ?

I would just run with everything as it is at the mo until discs are at their minimum as long as you are not hammering them to death on track or anything. Your pads will then be further worn as well so change discs and pads at the same time.
Please note though that I am tight!????

Discs and pads will cost well under 400.00 to buy from Euro or an equivalent. If necessary fit Brembo discs and Coloured pads
I use Brembo but apparently are not OE. But have Porsche cut corners and fitted a different brand due to PRICE!!

A nice mornings work to do all 4 wheels - don't forget the spacers on front!
Sensors should NOT require replacing as you are doing the job before they loose the end that triggers the light

Discs are designed to wear it increases brake performance
Last time I looked Euro only had Brembo DISCS for Front. Now they have both available
Although not OE the Callipers are Brembo and unless you are a really fast driver perfectly OK
The Harder the pads the quicker the Discs will wear and that's why they work do well.
F1 cars are designed to wear there discs and pads out in one RACE!!
The reasons callipers have different size pistons is the operate at different speeds.
So the smallest ones operate quicker and you get more progressive breaking
