Spoiler issue

It sounds like the microswitch which senses that the spoiler has raised is stuck or broken. Because the system can't sense that the spoiler is up, the warning light comes on. Also, because it can't see that switch, it won't energise the motor automatically to lower it. It may be the microswitch that senses the spoiler is down might have stuck, so it thinks the spoiler isn't raising, so you get a warning light, and it won't come down because it thinks it is already down. That's my best guess anyway. It obviously isn't the motor. I'm damned if I can find the switches on the parts program, but I seem to remember them being available as a separate part. If you can find them, a bit of manual agitation and a spray of WD-40 might free them.

Hi all have a little issue my spoiler, it goes up automatically when I hit 75mph but it won’t come down unless I do it manual,also the warning light is on permanent
any ideas how to fix or what might be the problem

Just a though, is the spoiler coming up 100% square?

I had one person contact me and his wasn’t and was getting the warning light, in his case he dismantled the rack assembly and found there is a cable each side actuated by plastic toothed racks driven by a worm gear off of the motor.

This worm/rack mechanism is housed in a plastic box and somehow one of the racks had “jumped” to the opposite end of the track. After a good clean up and re-lube all was well. (not a hard job)

I may be wrong but I think the motor travel activates inbuilt sensors satisfying the system.

Logically if you can disconnect the motor from the rack, tie it in a safe position and go for a drive see if it throws a light.

If all’s well it’s either a tight of faulty rack or a weak/faulty motor.

Hope this is of some help, again I may be wrong but this is where I would start.

It looks like the switches are integrated into the motor loom, so you can only get them as a motor assembly. As Andy suggests, it would be worth taking the motor off and see if there is anything obvious.
