Cherished number plate dilemma

I am currently selling my lovely 1990 C4 cab which has a cherished number plate XIA 964. Am I wise to sell the plate separately in case someone with a coupe or targa is interested? Thoughts and potential value on this please?

To be honest I don’t think it would appeal to someone without a 964 and it may help to get a bit more for yours ? I wouldn’t think it’s worth a huge amount on its own but I’m no expert

Always worth asking for an opinion or valuation via someone like RegTransfers on their thoughts of value on its own. As mentioned above, unlikely to be used on anything other than a 964, but, the new owner of your car, may have their own plate they want to put on, so not always new buyers want it. Personally, if you are thinking of owning a 964 again, keep it. Otherwise, I'd sell separately, but that's me :)

You could be pleasantly surprised by the value. Try searching for cherished plates on Google. I came across: VJI 964, valued @ £1737.65. There will be others you just need to spend a little time.

Get it valued and then divide by 4. If you can get more than £500 for it you have done well.

I know plenty of Victors, Vincents and Veronicas, but not many Xerxes, Xanthes or Xaviers. Just a thought.

Suggest you put on a retention certified which cost £80 and can be done on line . You can then sell . The price includes the transfer to another car . This leaves all options open
