Funnily enough I was looking for rears today. Plenty 245 45 16 available. Maybe change my plan if no fronts available although fronts are good for the time being.

Plus you should be looking for 225 50 16 so that's your problem unless you've typo'd!!

My daughters 1.6 Fiesta has these fitted on the rear, it needs 2 front tyres so I checked the reviews. They weren't very complimentary, old design, soft sidewalls, and not that great in the wet.

Have these been replaced now for our sizes. I've always been quite happy with them but I can't find any 225/60 16 now. Anyone else tried?

They are not great in the wet but I don't push on when it's wet so not a big issue for me. Excellent dry grip and good price. I have thought about trying something else but seen as how I always need either a back or front set at different times I've stuck with them.

Apparently they are OK on light cars, but the 944 isn't that light. The soft sidewalls put me off too. The wet rating isn't really about pushing on, more about what might make the difference in an emergency.

I get that. I've not seen anything other than Conti's and cheapo ditchfinders in the right sizes. Might try the Conti's but they are double the price.

Odd thing about the T1R reviews is some people raved about them a few years back, don't know if they changed somehow? If you're happy with them perhaps experiment running a bit more pressure. I've got Contis on my A4 quattro and they were excellent in the wet and snow when they were fresh, I regularly drove away from much faster stuff in those conditions. Not sure if Michelins PS are available in your size, I've had them on my Turbo for a few years and they've been very good.

I run 32psi. Car is a bit crashy any higher. My rears need replaced so I'm going to do a bit of research. I know the choice is not vast when you need 2 x 245 45 16 and 2 x 225 50 16. T1-R's, Conti's and the odd ditch finders is all I've seen so far.

A few years ago I'd have said put some 17" Cups on the car, but they're silly money now.

They are silly money but I can't see me ever changing the factory CS wheels, just a pity the tyre choice isn't great. I've not seen another turbo with bridge spoiler and CS wheels from the factory before and intend keeping mine that way! I've only ever seen other MY90 turbo's with D90's.

Yes it's unusual on a late turbo. I think I found out there is a black MY90 somewhere with no sunroof, not heard of any others. I've yet to see another car same spec as mine as that black one had D90's.

I think someone could order whatever spec they wanted if they were prepared to pay, or were good customers. Didn't Porsche MY90 start after the annual shutdown in 89? Does your car have the brake ducts fitted through the wheel arch liner.

Yes but mines was built in July 89 to MY90 spec for a Porsche director. Hence the bridge spoiler/CS wheel combo. Production started with 100011 being the first, mines is 100017 and confirmed by Porsche as first MY90 shipped to the UK. 1st registered by Porsche Reading 1st Aug 89 and they owned it and used it for 18 months before it was sold on. I imagine there must have been a limited run before the shut down. I do have the brake ducts as well as M030.

Another little quirk is that my options sticker has KN on it, which is 89 but the chassis is stamped LN which is 90 as is the V5.

Also just noticed my hatch lock drain was blocked well I was checking the sticker so that's my little water leak fixed now!

1251 MY90 turbos made, not sure of UK ones. 938 MY91 but none in USA. I had to check as was convinced MY90 was the last for turbos. I was wrong.

Edit to add 251 of the MY91 were cabs. I've seen a good few turbo cabs but no coupes.

Would have been MN100938 assuming they count prototypes which they must. Last MY90 turbo would be LN101251
