Side window scratches

hi guys,

have any of you you ended up with scratches on your side windows? I’m assuming over the years grit has built up in the rubber and caused the side windows to scratch when going up and down. I just wondered if anyone had tried anything to make the scratches look a little less visible before I go down the line of looking at having the glass replaced.

cheers

Ash

Try some metal polish and a soft cloth. You may be able to remove some of the lighter scratching. I managed to have my 997 scratched window replaced under extended warranty, so may be worth a try. [:)]

Coincidentally, I’ve just had my windscreen and drivers side window polished to remove minor wiper blade scratches and two window rubber grit scratches by a company called Diamondglasssolutions (Scotland based, though he also travels down south frequently to do dealership work). Having personally tried and failed to do this myself on previous cars, I thought I’d give this chap a try.

My windscreen is like now new (2010 car) and the side glass scratches x2 are completely removed. I would say though that the minor / v.small chips as expected on any windscreen become more magnified given the new clarity on the glass, however personally I’d rather live with this than put up with the halo effect that wiper blade scratches create under night lights.
