Grills and Warranty

Interesting indeed. That said my grilles have been in situ throughout 3 warranty renewals with no problem.....which as they were fitted at the PC would seem to be appropriate!

I fitted the Zunsport grills to my 981S, I left them on when I traded it in at my OPC, they then sold it on - I parked next to my old car on the club stand at Brands Hatch last month and the OPC had left the grills fitted - perhaps the rules and application vary across centres.

I had the aircon condensers replaced by OPC under extended warranty on my 997 GTS when i owned that, no questions at all... likewise when I purchased my new 991 from the same dealer earlier this year, I had Zunsport grills fitted whilst the car was being fully filmed ahead of collection. when the day arrived and I picked up the car, the dealer principal asked where I got them from as he liked them. so I think they are relaxing the rules slightly, but clearly still dependent on which OPC you use

Salesman at Porsche Wolverhampton said the same All Ok+ Now Porsche are fitting side grilles to 718 would be a bit difficult to argue about then being fitted to FRONT!!

Bit of a liberty from that dealer - makes me wince when brand new cars are still being sold with huge unprotected air intakes in the bumpers.

I've purchased a set of the Zunsport grilles. Having just returned from a trip to Germany in the GTS, the amount of debris and small missiles it has picked up, I can't understand why grilles aren't factory fitted!!

I have the Zunsport grilles on my 987.2S and they have saved a lot of damage I am sure I used to fit some home made grilles through the winter on my 987.1S after all the restriction to cooling flow from fitting of grilles is far less than the blockage possible from the build up of leaves!

Good to see that at most dealerships good sense is at last prevailing!

I’ve been told by Portsmouth OPC it’s best to remove them just before the 111 point check just in case. I think I will since they’re so easy to remove.

Hope they dont don’t pick up my shiny stainless exhaust bolts [&:]

I fitted Zunsport grilles to my Cayman GTS and when I went to renew my warranty at my local OPC I made specific reference to them and said I would only renew warranty if they were happy that they wouldn’t invalidate the warranty. They not only said that they were not a problem, but thought they were a sensible after fit!

The dealer was Porsche Solihull, West Midlands.

Cheers.

I’ve just contacted Teeside OPC and asked about the Zunsports for the front left & right for my 718 and they said it would affect airflow and hence warranty.....I’m contacting Porsche GB to see if I can get a more realistic view....

I had Zunsport grilles on my B981GTS and when I traded it in for my GT4 18 mths ago, my OPC removed them to sell the car as they were not standard parts, I had them back and sold them privately.

My query about this has now made it to Porsche Germany (PAG) apparently...

Please can you let us know how this progresses. Did you have any luck from Porsche GB?

My query about this has now made it to Porsche Germany (PAG) apparently...

The original post referred to a PH'er who stated that "Porsche (Germany) have agreed that they have no adverse effect and will be pleased to take my two grand to extend the warranty"

It will be great if we can get a few more confirmations from AG, and in writing so perhaps they might start to fit grills to all models with exposed rads.

So....Porsche GB have replied and said that I need to contract my OPC and ask them to contract Porsche Germany (with details of the parts) to ask them to make a decision.

If the above thread is correct regarding a PH user who has been given the ok by Porsche Germany and there is another outstanding query before mine is submitted, then hopefully, we should all get a common response and approval....I will update when I know more.

Thanks Paul
