winter car storage

very sadly I plan to take my car off the road from say november to April.

Can anyone recommend a safe car storage facility and maybe what the cost might be?

Just rent a garage from your local council, that will be your cheapest option at around £30-35 a month pal

In case you don't have this sorted already, I had my car stored during building work at Classic Cars North East... (its basically a spare barn!) ...very pleased with the service...

Sorry for late reply

Funnily enough i went to see this place however for various reasons i decided against this. Instead i put my car in the garage at home and left my daily drive car outside

Thanks for taking the trouble to reply

Can I ask how you 'set-up' the car for storage? I plan to do the same thing next Winter as I've hardly used mine over the last few months.

My thoughts were:

-Wheel Pads (to stop tyre flat spotting) and maybe slightly over pressurising them while sitting.

-Full tank of a premium brand fuel (type with additives to preserve fuel and prevent water condensation)

-CTEK charger connected up

-Dust cover over the car

-Some sort of storage dehumidifier packet in the interior to reduce moisture

I might be over thinking this?!

Mine is a new car and my brother in law who is an AA road service recovery employee advised me to fill tank up and he set up the battery charger for me.

He says Shell is the best quality fuel and no need for additives

He he said as they were new tyres there wasn’t a need to bother with the prevention measures you described.

I have a dust cover too and felt i didn’t need to use a dehumidifier as the garage door was frequently opened anyway

Drove the car yesterday after four months hibernation and noticed a lot of “steam” from the exhaust for the first few minutes only. Thankfully everything else was fine.

Hello Bus_ter
