Have any 718 Boxster owners had the recall completed for the installation of protective mesh grills to side air intakes - just wondered what they looked like?

-booked mine in at my local OPC next month, so I’ll post some pictures when complete

To be clear, this is NOT for the front grills, it is ONLY for the side air intakes. D

I think that is what Matt said, side air intakes, is this a Porsche design fault that has been identified and what is the issue?

I incorrectly posted ‘front’ in the title (which I can’t change from my phone )

The issue is to do with combustable material accumulating and potential for fire from cigarettes- I will post up the letter from Porsche

Your header mentions FRONT grills and your info SIDE grills The recall is for SIDE grills to stop ingress of foreign matter into air intake I believe that you NEED FRont Grills to protect the Air Con Condensors which are totally unprotected and are NOT covered by warranty if they are damaged

You have a better chance of winning the Lottery Millions than getting a Cig butt entering the grills ...thought smoking was now anti social ?:ROFLMAO:

Throwing them out of the window certainly is But people still throw out Plastic Bottle and other stuff It is illegal and DANGEROUS but so is speeeeeeeeeding!!

The issue is smokers who sit in the passenger seat lobbing their butts out of the window and it being sucked into the air intake. The air intake then keeps the tip alight causing a potential fire.

I have received another letter about this.

They changed the grilles in 2018 and now they are changing them again for a finer mesh.

GTS 4.0 are different.

I received the recall letter and rang to arrange the grills fitting. I was told to hang back as the OPC (Preston) had just been informed that the ones for the GTS 4.0 were not yet ready. They will be recalled at a later date.

I may ask my local OPC if this is correct.

Leeds have booked me in for side grilles on my GTS4.0.

But the are unsure whether they are needed, and if I look on the Porsche Recall web site, input my VIN - it says no recall for my car. Yet I got a letter saying I need them doing.

There a similar, but longer, thread over on the Cayman section of the forum

Just had confirmation from Porsche Cars GB via my OPC that:

“Due to an allocation error, GT4/GT4 RS/GTS 4.0/Boxster 25 years & Spyder (982) vehicles have wrongly been added to this campaign.

This has now been corrected and the vehicles have been removed from this campaign.”
