996 turbo rear spolier

I'm interested to hear of other people's experience of the reliability of the hydraulic rear spoiler fitted to the 996 turbo. I had a new one fitted in 2015 which lasted from new ( 2001 ) but the replacement is now intermittently failing after 3 years and 15000 miles. It cost me around £1400 to buy and have fitted so that's nearly £500 per year so far which I think is a little unreasonable for a spoiler. Have other members experienced spoiler problems after such a short period of time or have I just been unlucky?
I have written to Porsche who appear to be reluctant to replace the unit because it was fitted by an independent specialist rather than an OPC and would welcome any advice for how to proceed - is this usual behaviour for Porsche and are they unlikely to help or might they consider replacing it if I escalate the matter within their organization?
Any input and suggestions are welcome[:)]

Hi
Youve not given the symptoms are the hydraulics failing? is it the contact sensors, the motor etc.

The spoiler kit is £500 more now a days.

Porsche always say no, you have to work really hard to get anything past them, the big itme in your favour is its one big kit that anyone can fit.

Hi Gordon,
Thanks for the info.
The spoiler deploys ok but sometimes does not retract automatically. When it does not retract automatically it will do when I press the retraction button. Sometimes it does retract automatically but does not stop flush against its seating/lower part of the spoiler and stops about an inch raised.
When I discussed it with the independent specialist that I use they couldn't find a specific cause but reported that the spoiler felt 'rough' sometimes when retracting.

I'm not sure if that helps?

Do you think I would be wasting my time to push Porsche? They have confirmed they will only consider a replacement or partial funding of a replacement if I pay to have the spoiler inspected by an OPC.
