Design 911 brake discs

Hi Pete, I can’t speak for these exact items but I used to run cross drilled from a company on the net which where exactly the same looking as these but were actually £170 each disc, and I tried them with red stuff pads which were very deer, and also pagid which is what I use now with porsche discs , what I found is they would create tones of break dust and didn’t last long whatso ever, to the point that they warped in ribs which you could feel under braking and also feel with your nail.

I for one would never buy cross drilled again again unless I totally upgrade my whole system to something which was meant to run with a cross drill disc from maybe a 911.

i ended up having a conversation with Frazerpart about it and he opened my eyes to the fact that disc material 100% must go with the right brake pad material otherwise it just doesn’t work or last which was the case for me.

I went with standard discs and pagid pads and its never felt so good.

Thays is my experience anyway be interesting to hear others, but for me I’m sticking with genuine as they have already outlasted them 3 times over and still going strong and flat.

Have to agree.

Played with grooved and cross drilled in my RS Ford days. Always short lived and messy and never felt benefit.

On the 944T standard Pagid discs and pads have served me well although recent rear pad purchase I chose Brembo and so far so good. CP4L always really keen prices.

Vented discs and Brembo 4 pots all round in good order provide plenty stopping power.

Although I do have the larger M030 items Pete.....

Thanks for the input....interestingly I've not had any issues with the cross drilled discs already fitted, trouble is I can't remember their make? The discs on the car have served me very well, I can't remember when they were fitted, certainly over 10 years, perhaps 15? However, they are now very worn with little meat left and a very large lip on the fronts so I need to replace them, plus the 'idiot' light is now showing...:) I have Pagid pads, I've always preferred these to the other makes, I should be able to get a good price on them as my son has a trade account.

I'll let you know what I end up with, I was hoping that someone here had fitted the design 911 discs and could give some feedback, I can go back to Brembo's if needed.

If I was you Pete I'd save money on the fancy discs and uprate the brakes to 250 bhp spec. TBH I think with 400bhp it is under braked with S2 brakes.
 
They could be the best discs ever but I wouldn’t buy anything from D911 unless they were the last place on Earth stocking the parts.
 
thanks, guys...well I've never found braking to be an issue, brakes are still strong today even with worn discs/pads, admittedly I don't do silly things like take it on a track..:)....what's wrong with Design911 Dave?..I have bought from them before and always found their service quick and well priced?

I have fitted 964 RS cross drilled rears, genuine from Opc , ouch,but will probably be worth the extra £££, and Sebro cross drilled 928 Jobbies on the front along with pagid pads, good brake pedal now although admittedly calipers have been rebuilt.
This is on MO30 suspension 944 Turbo S.
 
D911’s business model seems to be "buy from Porsche, add a markup, add postage, add VAT to the lot, make you think they’re doing you a favour”.

I find them expensive and when I’ve communicated with them on technical stuff they don’t have a clue.
 
Just spoke to my son who's still waiting for a price...good news is he remembers the discs that he fitted, he says he fitted them just after I bought the car so they have lasted a hell of a long time. Seems they are Pagid race spec discs, can't remember exactly what he said?...I knew the pads were Pagid. I chipped in and said...oh, yes euro do 'Pagid' at a good price. His retort was, you haven't got any of that euro Pagid crap on your car, I'll get you the same as before, proper pads?... I have no idea what that means...hope they aren't too expensive. His contact said he can still get the discs, if he can I'll be very happy with that.

I'll report back when I know more...

There's not a lot of logic in buying Porsche parts from D911 but they are good on other stuff - PFC pads for instance. Their logistics are reliable as well.

Pete - I've also been told that ECP "Pagid" stuff is not to be confused with the proper stuff. It's ok on normal cars though. FWIW I usually use plain Sebro discs.
 
This is intriguing. I know not of the great ECP/Pagid scandal! Can someone enlighten me please? Can you buy Sebro from ECP or are they chocolate as well? [:D]

Would also assume CP4L are embroiled in this deception also by virtue of proxy?

I wouldn't call it deception, after all, you can buy a FWD BMW these days...

I was told this by another (much smaller, Porsche specialist) parts supplier. Same brand, just different spec.
 
I bought two pairs of front discs from ECP under the Pajid brand . They both warped pretty quickly after they had been installed. I then bought Brembo discs from GSF and no problems since. Apparently ECP use the Pajid name under license in the UK . I try to avoid ECP as much as possible as I have found most of their stuff to be poor quality.
 
Thanks chaps. Suppose it makes sense when you can get a "Pagid" disc for £40 odd quid. I think I have ECP Pagid discs on rear but the fronts were Sebro and are holding up fine 3 years down the line. I think I've got ECP Pagid pads on front but got Brembo's from them for the rear. Anyway will bear this in mind at next point of change!
