Hi all,

I need to replace the front Bilsteins on my 1973 2.4S.

Design 911 have two types available. ‘Heavy Duty’ or ‘Sport’.

I‘m inclined towards the Sport version but wondered if anyone has any experience with either type?

thanks in advance

Graham

Standard road car keep with standard sports, there are 4 or 5 choices if its a track/race car

what type struts do you have ? Assume Bilstein . I've always the softer 'green' bilstein upfront before with the 'yellow' in the rear ( although confusingly the yellows were refered to as sport many years ago & the green as standard ) . Currently running a slightly custom valved set up as recommended years ago by tuthills

Hi James,

yes, it has Bilstein’s fitted.
I think I’ll consider a custom set up further down the line.
Only just got the car so want to get used to it before making too many adjustments.

thanks for the input.

Graham

I've just replaced mine right throughout, front and rears. I had BOGE front outers and inners. After a bit of research I fitted a brand new set of Boge Outers complete with Stub axles and fitted Bilstein B6 inners and also B6 rear shocks.....Basically fast road, rather than B8's which are more 'Track Day / Race spec'. I also replaced all the wheel bearings and ball joints etc so it needs tracking up properly.
I haven't tried them yet as there are a few more to do tomorrow (Alternator!) before i give it a good thrash. I'll let you know how it feels

Cheers 'alfietom'. I'm actually struggling to source the Bilstein B6 dampers (inserts). I'm being told November delivery, which is a pain. I've now approached my local Porsche Dealership to see if they can source them. I suspect I'll have to replace the rears in due course, but just want to see how she goes for now. Interested to hear your thoughts and observations when you get your car out.

Believe it or not the B6 Inners came from Euro Car Parts, delivery was 2 days.

Thanks for that link. I'll give them a call. When I first looked online I could only find the full assembly which I don't need as the current ones are fine. Just tired inserts.

Managed to source one damper from Euro Car Parts! Have found another in Germany, and it's on its way. I've decided that I'm going to change rear dampers as a matter of course. Seems mad not to.

Thanks for your help

Glad you got it sorted....I still had the originals so the new ones made an enormous difference. Your gonna love em!
