EWOTY 2019 - Dinslaken Porsche Festival May 1st

A few of us have visited The Dinslaken Porsche Festival in previous years, and it is arguably the biggest Porsche only event in Europe with cars travelling from as far away as Russia and Spain. The event is always on the 1st May and next year will be the 18th time it has been held. The event organiser is a good friend and he always gives us an infield parking area in the centre of the showground so we are right amongst the action.

At this months R22 meeting a potential trip was discussed and there has been a good bit of interest. I have also been speaking to Barry Clarkson (R1), Greg Harm (R3) and Kevin Dodd (R18) and there is interest in doing this as a Northern PCGB trip as Members from these regions are also interested in coming along.

The hotel we always stay in is The TRYP hotel which is 500m away from a large indoor shopping centre with an excellent selection of waterside bars and restaurants. It also has secure parking and is next door to a Shell petrol station that has a car pressure washer for those that want to keep their car clean.

Due to the Spa Francochamps Race Circuit being closed for the FIA WEC that week we have had to miss the opportunity to drive the circuit but I have listed below an option for those that may want to extend their trip. www.fiawec.com/en/

ITINERARY FOR TRIP TO DINSLAKEN SHOW

Monday 29th April - Travel to Hull P&O Ferry Port for the early evening crossing over to Rotterdam (The Ferry Details and Costs have not been released yet for Spring 2019 but should be available in the next month) Ferry departs 8.30pm with boarding closing 90 minutes beforehand. Thursday 2nd May - Travel back to Rotterdam for the early evening ferry back to Hull for those who wish to do so (150 miles)
Friday 3rd May - Head off home from Hull Ferry Port. The ferry usually docks around 8.30am

sounds like a good trip...
is this correct? Return Ferry from Hull to Rotterdam with 1 Car and a Premier Cabin : £250 per person (add approx. £90 total for a 2nd car).. should it say £90 for a 2nd person or is this for a car on a trailer?

Hi Archie

The price is for the cabin and 2 people with 1 car (£250 x 2). If you were taking 2 cars then it is approximately £90 more for the second car to be added on. Some people may be driving solo but sharing a cabin so will need 2 car places.

I hope I explained that well [:)]

Martin, could be up for this but would prefer a fixed ittenary , Dinslaken and then off to Spa would be my choice.

Jim, I'm going out on the 29th from Hull, doing Dinslaken show on the 1st then on the 2nd I'm travelling down to Stuttgart staying at The Ibis City where we stayed in 2013, travelling back up to the ferry on the 4th, home for lunch on the 5th.

Hi Jimmy

We will be organising the 2 options :

Short trip : Hull - Oberhausen - Hull

Longer trip : Hull - Oberhausen - Nürburgring - Spa - Hull

If people want to deviate from this that’s fine but we feel that 2 options is enough.

Myself and Greg (R3) have reserved a quantity of hotel rooms at the Nürburgring and near Spa for those wanting to do the longer trip. These will be available on a First come first served basis. The TRYP hotel and ferry is to be booked by each person.

Sorry to jump in on this thread but I did this run this year, 2018. Do Spa before you do the 'Ring', we went on a proper guided tour of the circuit in the morning which was excellent then the icing on the cake a few laps of Spa behind a pace car. They were setting up for the Endurance event whilst we were there and there was also a Ducati track day on as well but they stopped the bikes for 30 mins to allow a group of us to drive round the circuit. We were all chuffed to bits to get a trip round the track, the only down side was that one members car tripped the noise meter so we got taken off early!
If you can take in Classic Remise as well, it's free and not far out of your way. If you go to the Ring you won't get on the track unless it's in a 'Ring' car also they won't close the circuit to allow you to go on in a group, or so I've been told. Do Spa it's fantastic.

Thanks for your post, but we cannot get on track at Spa due to the FIA WEC 6 Hour race taking place that week which I have already mentioned in the first post. Initially we hoped to go to Spa first but plans change as the Dinslaken Show is always on 1st May and the WEC race is set in stone next year.
