Removing clocks (Square dash)

Hi,

I've removed the clocks from my 924 a number of times so should be able to help (although this is from memory).:

- Disconnect the battery
- Remove the steering wheel (not 100% required but makes life easier)
- Get your hands under the dash and up behind the fuel emp gauge and push it, really hard. It's only held in by friction caused by the rubber band round the gauge. Try alternating each side of the dial as you push.
- It will eventually pop out at which point you can disconnect everything.
- Do the same with the rev counter.
- For the speedo you need to push it out slightly (easier as you can reach from the now empty holes each side) then get your hand behind the dial and unscrew the speedo cable after which the dial will come out. Getting it lined up to reconnect the cable is a royal pain in the behind and patience is your friend.

If you need to get the pod out remove the 2 screws in the stalk pod and pull it towards you then remove the 2 screws under the stalk pod and wiggle the two cowling half's free. Undo the 2 screws in the top of the pod and slide it out.

Hopefully of some help!

Russel, thanks for the reply. I should have been more specific as it's just the odo that's stopped working, so i'm guessing i only need remove the speedo?
I'll give this a go this week and report back.

Mike

Glad to be of help. If the odo has stopped Ill guess the small cog that drives it has slipped down the spindle which is quite a common problem (my 924 & neighbours 993 had the same problem). I'd say getting the fuel emp gauge dial out first would give you a bit more room to play with. Shout if you get stuck.
