inspired by Deano's thread here's my new "to me" 2015 981 Cayman S.

Car has a lot of kit on it, including the Sport Design Kit

Very smart looking car, I look forward to hearing more about your tinkering with it, what magic did you use to turn the lettering black and how long do you expect it to last?

Finally got round to fixing my wonky/crinkled sticker number plate thanks to a neighbour who has more experience of doing vinyl.

Before - its wonky and also crinkled at the top

In my opinion they should of left the factory like that!

Took the car down to Maidenhead yesterday, a chap down there could do some software updates for me! Unfortunately the 2019 map update didn't go to plan as I have RTTI and Online Sevices.

We also enabled auto wipers (all 981 S have the sensor but its not enabled) and disabled start/stop

Lovely car and I love the work you are doing! Really improving an already nice spec, How do you mean the update didn't go to plan. Did you gain the online services and RTTI by doing it or did that stop it working?

Map update wasn't attempted as we think there might be a different set of map dvds for cars with online services.

Really? I thought you needed the bigger lump of plastic that goes between the rear view mirror and the windscreen, which houses the extra sensors? I'd quite like auto wipers, but thought it was more than just a software change.

It is. You need the auto dimming mirrors option to add the rain sensor. It's also a different stalk obviously.

I think you'll find all 981s have the rain sensor in place, but it isn't activated unless specified on the vehicle order. If you take a look at PET, you will see that there is only one mirror mounting, whether you have manual or auto dimming mirrors. I have activated a few, on both "basic" 2.7s, up to well-specified Ss like Andrew's.
