Hi All
I collected my 991.1 on Saturday and it’s simply amazing, I traded in my 997.2 and am loving it!!
When I called the insurance they have insisted I get a tracker and have given me 30 days to get one!

Any advice on the best ones to get would be appreciated ??

Cheers
Rich

Hi Rich,

Congrats on the new car! I'm in the same position picking up my 991 50th Ann. next week and need a tracker.

I'm probably going to use the Porsche VTS (Vodafone tracker) not sure what the subscription costs are for 3 years.

You could use Tracker UK which is pretty us good.

Bob

Your 991.1 has a tracker already installed. your car should have come with two extra fobs (black plastic squares) contact Vodafone to activate them on ?01282 473732?. I use the system and it works well.

Cheers All, appreciate the responses

JAW911, I called that number and activated the Porsche VTS system, was quoted £217 for 1 year and £585 for 3

now to figure out the Ipod/AUXBT/bovee1000 [8|]

AUX BT should be no problem. it seems you cannot access AUX BT immediately the car is started or PCM is switched on but once connected it works fine. I use it for Spotify and you can switch tracks by using the arrows either side of the volume knob. Bovee1000?

911 991.1 C2S PDK
4-way Sport Seats, Sport Design Wheel, 20" Carrera Classic Wheels (see photo), PSE, BOSE, Cruise, Logo Embossed head-rests, Red Seat-belts, PDSL, Entry & Drive, Park Assist F&R, Power Steering+, folding mirrors, Keyless go, Sport Chrono, Auto-Dim Mirrors with rain sensor, Light Design Package, heated seats

The only option I'd have added would have been memory seats

It is phenomenal!

Great spec. I have a similar spec C2S in Agate Grey with the same great wheels. Gtechniq C5 works really well on these wheels - I now just clean them with shampoo and water. As an ex-997 owner how do you rate the power plus electric steering as against your 997? There is much written about the feel of the 'new' electric steering system - fortunately I have no previous Porsche with which to compare and love the way my car drives. I cannot fault the steering in any way. As my car was one of the original 40 UK launch 991s, it is equipped with virtually every option including PDCC. Again having not driven another Porsche I have no comparison to make but it is still like driving a go kart round bends so I am sure that the PDCC helps! Enjoy your car! I have just increased my insured mileage by 2000 miles as I cannot stop driving it!

Early observations are that the 991 seems a lot larger inside than the 997, things like the glove box are further away and getting my chewing gums requires more of a stretch!
I also don't seem to be able to get the seat in exactly the right position, I suppose that highlights my now 4-way compared to my previous 18-way controls
When driving the PSE is louder than in my 997.2 and more like my 997.1
Steering wise I can tell the difference when parking but am unsure as to whether that is my power steering+ or new electric power steering however when driving at speed I can't tell much of a difference!
Size and comfort wise the 991 is a big leap forward, it seems more planted on the road and much more of a cruiser/GT car, it is really fast too and seems less of an effort to get to high speed

I'm still not used to the auto start/stop and keep forgetting to turn it off and I'm constantly switching the in- dash screens as I drive because I can't decide what is best! (1st world problem)

I missing my old multi-function steering wheel for the iPod and phone but I do love the sport design wheel's flappy paddles

In summary I love it!

I’m In the same boat as you re electric steering. I love it, nicely weighted. I fear the people that dismiss it are the same ones that tut about PDK!

Your car has a built in tracking system your dealer can supply you with fobs and Vodafone can switch it on ,, hope you're having fun with your car

That's the problem with stereotyping, it's inevitably wrong.

I love PDK, but have never been overly impressed with electric power steering. Yet I have 2 cars fitted with it, one I've been driving for nearly 4 years now! So you'd think I'd be converted, but no - I far prefer hydraulic PS in the 997!

EPS is getting there though and (hopefully) will eventually become indistinguishable. [:)]

I have a MOTOsafety OBD GPS and I am going to use it to monitor the safety of my children. What surprised me is that it also offers driving lessons. This car tracker looks great, isn't it?

Hi All
2008 RS 60 Boxster s
Just renewed my insurance and with this very competitive quote, but I need a tracker! Luckily the car is fitted with the Porsche VTS system and I have the fobs, but I didn't buy the car new, so I have no subscription or account. My local Porsche dealership have not got back to me, but I understand this system is supported by Cobra (Vodaphone), does anyone know how I can get this activated or any contact details for Vodaphone?
Thanks in advance

Jules

Yes and yes ??, is it worth it? Questionable but on my last Porsche I installed Tracker and it interfered with the radio, so have stuck with the approved system this time ??
