996 Luggage Compartment Lock

Hello all
I have recently become the new owner of a 996 Carrera 2, Yr 2000. Lovely car and I intend to keep it in top notch condition.
It has been as good as gold but suddenly I cannot open the luggage compartment, the lever not lifting more than half an inch.
Anyone know of a quick fix, or is it complicated ?
Thanks

Hi Andy
Further to this it seems to have been resolved. The central locking had been on and the car not driven for five days , so i think the battery saving system had come on? As the remote key didn't work I manually opened the door . I presume the system still had everything in shutdown until I relocked it and opened it later with the remote.
Dos that make sense ? It's a voyage of discovery ..

Hi Tony
That's good news,
Why I asked the question is, there is a 'lock out' plate to prevent them from being release when the car is locked or the driver's door is closed, perhaps this got stuck?
However, apparently you can use a small flat headed screwdriver to slide between the two levers on the driver's door sill to manually unlock them. (Not tried it myself).
all the best
Andy

Leaving the car a few days without use does lock some things down

Presume yours is cable release

Unlocking the Car manually after the Alarm turn off should get everything working again - as you have found
