Front hub bother.

So there are some times I really wish I was an actual mechanic.

Both front bearings were MOT advisory so decided to change the bearings. Long story short, I had to replace the hub with 2nd hand one, got the wrong one, it fits but has no abs ring (no idea how it fits!) but now need an actual replacement with abs ring. I've posted on the spares thread but thought I'd ask here too. Anybody got a spare because the abs warning is on permanently and new hubs are extortionate!!

Any help greatly appreciated!

The ABS rings are heat shrunk on to the hubs

if you failed on loose bearings why did you not just adjust them up

the inner races require you to heat up the hubs to remove them or you might damage the alloy hubs

or is that info a bit late

Thanks Waylander.

Sadly, yes it's too late! It's well and truly bugg***d!!

I did look at that ring and think... I wonder. Probably a trick of the eye or years of built up dirt but it looked to me like there was a shoulder for the ring and there definitely isn't anything like that on the replacement. Can the ABS ring be removed from the old hub and placed on to the new one then if I can get it all hot enough?

I would seriously doubt you could get it off and keep it round

they are pushed on by a press when the ring is close to red hot

Have you tried Douglas Valley breakers? I ran a quick check on ebay but couldn't see any in the UK. There must be some breakers with hubs from a later model 944 with ABS.
