Luftgekuhlt GB event this Sunday at Bicester Heritage ticket only and focused on air cooled Porsche's.

Anybody here know any more or even going ?

Didn't know about it until this minute. Publicity??

I will go as air cooled cars featured!

For me, publicity was a bit lacking - found out about this only recently and going to something else.

Should certainly be a good future event (if it takes place again after this one) once the word gets around... Luftgekühlt = air-cooled [;)]

If you do go the main gate to Bicester Heritage is now closed atm entry left at roundabout keeping the airfield on your left.

Think that's the way I got into Sunday Scramble. I was coming from South, so turned right at roundabout, then left into airfield, if I remember

Due to the weather, and getting home with a wet car, that'll end up, sat wet in the garage all week, I'll be in my black A3 (A3 MFU) if anyone sees me and wants to say hello

Thanks,

Mark

Having had such a long period of fantastic weather, waking up to a thoroughly miserable day there was a temptation to stay at home. However, being aware that this could be our one and only opportunity to attend luftgekuhlt in the UK I decided to make the effort and drive the 100 miles through torrential rain to Bicester - and I'm glad I did, the event was brilliant.

Yes, it was generally wet, but the rain eased off at times and there were even some dry periods, but nothing could detract from the wealth of iconic Porsches spread all over the Bicester Heritage site, cleverly positioned so as to allow plenty of room around them for viewing and photography - and in fact the weather was probably more suitable for photographs than bright sunshine would have been (every cloud, etc.). Walking round the site, there were cars lurking round every corner, positioned to take advantage of the hangers and other buildings associated with an old airfield to create interesting backdrops and a more exciting display than the usual row upon row of Porsches parked in regimented fashion.

Everyone I spoke to enjoyed to event and there wasn't any suggestion that the weather spoiled things, such was the quality of what was on show - and for which thanks must be given to those who braved the conditions to get their air-cooled car to Bicester. Talking of which, I must confess that I chose to travel in my Boxster rather than my Carrera 3.2, the appeal of air-con keeping interior misting at bay winning over the alternative of a prehistoric ventilation system and open windows and as a result, I'm hanging my head in shame and keeping my fingers crossed that the weather is better next year tempting me to travel to the event 'luftgekuhlt'.

If any of the organisers are reading this, please tell us there will be a next year...

Here here well worth getting wet for,How many of those cars attending were PCGB members cars !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
