Random LED flash on key

the key, not a keyless key, just an ordinary one, for my 2016 981 sometimes just gives one flash of the LED. Ive noticed it when it's on the kitchen sideboard, nowhere near a mobile phone or microwave. The key is too far away from the car for it to activate the doors, but i have no idea why it does it. I first thought the key battery may be low, but it opens the car from as far away as it ever has. Any ideas?

Sorry no idea ..have you tried the spare key to see if it acts in the same way ..I am sure with the breadth of knowledge on this forum some one will point you in the right direction.

Ive only seen it do it twice in 3 weeks, it may be doing it more often, but ive not noticed it. The key usually sits in a drawer.

Sorry Stephen, really can't throw any light on your problem. Do you still get the effect if you leave the key within activation range?

As suggested, try pairing it with your spare to see whether or not it displays the same effect.

You could always try dismantling the key fob and cleaning the contacts.
