718 Cayman - non sports chrono - sport button

Ive got a 2.0 Cayman with PDK, no sports chrono or PSE.
i understand the sport button changes throttle response and upchange points, but does it have any impact on exhaust noise? I’ve seen a couple of posts on different forums suggesting it promotes increased pops and bangs (Presumably due to the different map as there is no direct change in the exhaust as it is not the PSE)
I haven’t tried the sport button yet......can anyone enlighten me please?
Many thanks
Paul

Hi Paul,

Yes it does change the throttle response and shift points, it will hold onto the gear longer even if your at a steady, non-accelerating speed. The exhaust note does change, on start-up it sounds more 'purposeful', if you let off the gas the exhaust pops and bangs a bit but under hard acceleration there is no noise difference I can tell. With sport mode engaged it also turns off Stop/Start. For spirited driving, sport mode is always on but for regular 'work' miles it stays off as we then get better MPG.

Hope that helps.

Steve

Hi Paul,

On my manual car pressing the spots button is the first thing I do on start up, the car feels so much more alive with the increased throttle response plus easy down shift blips, I think the last time I drove it in normal mode there was snow on the ground!

With regard to sound, it is a bit throatier and pops'n'bangs with the sports button pressed, also as I think I've said on here before I couldn't tell much difference between my cars standard system and the PSE on a service loaner I had at the beginning of the year.
