David Coulthard Museum Visit - Sunday 26/08/2018

Myself and Greg from R3 have been discussing the idea of a joint visit to the David Coulthard Museum in Kirkcudbright DG6 4NP and we think we have come up with an interesting idea that could work for both Regions, so we thought why not put it out there to gauge initial interest from both sides.

The plan from our end is to meet at the Gretna Gateway Shopping Outlet, Gretna DG16 5GG from 9.30am to leave at around 10.00am before it gets busy, the toilets & Costa are open from 8.30am.

At Gretna Gateway I will be waiting to greet everyone (At the bottom end near Next), here we will regroup with the guys and girls from R3 where everyone will be given enough time to grab a quick cuppa and toilet break before heading in convoy the remaining 50 miles accross to Twynholm.

The David Coulthard Museum boasts the world’s most complete collection of race cars and memorabilia for any Formula 1 driver, past or present and was originally started by David’s parents, Duncan and Joyce, who bought him his first go-kart for Christmas when he was only 12 years old. This kart, together with examples of cars from all formulae which David has participated in, are on display. With all the trophies they achieved.

The David Coulthard Museum has a vast array of racing memorabilia and Scotland’s only actual size, full motion Formula 1 car simulator which you will have a chance to try your hand at. Obviously the simulator will be number dependant due to time though we will do our best to fit you in. At present we are thinking we can make around 20 spaces (sim drivers) per Region work, however anyone not interested in trying the sim is more than welcome to come along to support or just watch. There will be a prize for fastest driver on the day.

I know we will want to have a bit of friendly Inter Region rivalry. [;)]

Next door is the The Cocoabean Company here the cafe & restaurant is open until 5.00pm so once you have seen everything you wish to see at the museum why not pop along for a cuppa or a spot of lunch in their restaurant, we can let you know what time to come back to the simulator to save you waiting around, unless you want to of course.

Costs are as follows, so act fast if you don't want to miss out on the simulator experience it's first come first served.

Museum Tour Only : £5.00 per person
Museum tour with Simulator : £8.00 per person

Hi Martin,
Would love to have attended this, but that's the same (Bank Hol) weekend as the Oulton Park Gold Cup.
Any chance of another time?? Sound like a good one for the Autumn/Winter months.
Cheers.
