Nice car Ian but not sure about using it for a long tour because of the hood arrangement. I guess you just have to plan ahead a bit more when touring looking for those rain clouds. Cheers.
PS: BTW this site is bad when attempting to upload photos etc or even update or reply to a post I am confused, as always! This site has been like this since day one. Grump over.

Not sure if this is tongue in cheek comment or serious as we regularly tour in our Boxster for 2-3 weeks at a time across most of Europe.  If it starts to rain simply drive faster of slow down a bit to around 30mph and put the hood up.

I assume that he is referring to Ian Gilmour's post. Ian has a Spyder which has a manual roof, NOT the standard electric-powered one. Yes, it is a bit more of a faff to raise and lower but, as Ian has found, it is not an issue to me and most certainly has not stopped me from touring in my Spyder

Hi Iain, we've been to Spain, Italy and Germany in our Spyder over the last 3 years and have booked to go to Italy again next year.  The roof isn't as convenient as a fully electric roof but it just means planning ahead and if necessary stopping to put the roof up, which takes less than a minute.  We think of the manual roof a being part of the Spyder's character rather than something negative.

By the way, I agree with you about uploading photos to the forum.  I've no idea how I managed to upload the last one and I've just spent the last 15 minutes trying to upload another but without success.  It's much easier on Pistonheads!  Watch this space in case one day I manage a successful upload again!

We have done Spain, and then Belgium/Luxembourg/Vosges/Black Forest/Rhine Valley/Mosel/ Spa/Holland in ours. Felt quite the 'superstar' with the reception the car got in northern Spain. And the sound as we "made progress" through the Picos de Europa was awesome.

re loading photos, have the photos that you want to load somewhere in an easily reached folder on your computer, then click 'Reply' and then click on the "(Open Full Version)" which takes you to a seperate window where you can add attachments (Paperclip symbol), a single jpeg or pdf, or click on  "Attach Images" and select the "From gallery/upload" option.

Paul, we felt exactly the same in Spain, especially when we returned to the Spyder in the car park of a small town to find it surrounded by a group of young people from a school trip.  The car was only a couple of months old at the time so we were understandably nervous but found that the kids were really interested in it and very complimentary.

By the way, I took your advice about uploading photos and have managed to add one from the top of the Stelvio Pass last year.  It seems to have attached itself twice but I guess that's better than not attaching at all.

A couple from my recent drive to Engelberg, Switzerland
This is at the turn around point at the foot of the Furka Pass near Andermatt

This is on the lower slopes of the Grimsel pass, again just about at the point of having to turn around.
