Hi All

Hi Steve

Welcome to the club and the north-east region.

Hope to see you at a club meeting or one of our events sometime.

Hi Steve,

Welcome to Region 3 North East, we like to think we are a friendly traveling Region.

We are very active with a fantastic social side which always has lots going on from drives to weekends away. It's great to have you on board.

Please keep an eye on the forum for up to date details of events and experiences hopefully some will appeal, I am confident we can give you a great reason to get more involved and hope to meet you soon.

Best wishes

Greg & Deb.

Hi Steve,

Welcome I'm sure your going to have many pleasurable events with us.

regards Mike

Thanks.. Hoping to get the car on the road soon, my wife and I have already booked a weekend away near Fort William 28th 29th July, It would be nice to go up in the Porsche, if not, my wife has a BMW Mini Cooper S, still quite nice on the twisty bits...

I just spoke with D&G. They have started putting the Cylinder Heads back on. The right Cyl head 4-6 was cracked and one of the cams was pitted due to the cracked Cylinder head spraying water, both are u/s. I managed to get a replacement head, with a pair of good cams, new timing chain and cam followers, the valves were reseated and the head was pressure tested.

They are replacing the AOS, doing a gearbox and diff oil change, checking the condition of the IMS, not sure if it is a single bearing or a double bearing yet, single bearings can be bought for about £40.00 but double bearings can only be bought as an after market kit for £600.00 unless someone knows different?

Might get the car back next week......

Hi Steve and welcome,

I too have only been a member for a short while and have found everyone I've met to be really friendly and approachable. Good luck with the repairs, Gary at D&G is a super nice fella and has been really helpful in respect of my broken Boxster, they are very highly regarded as Porsche engineers and go out of their way to make the occasional perils of ownership a little less painful.

Kevin

Thanks Kevin, I agree, Gary and Dean are really helpful and not money grabbing like most, they will give you honest options that are best for the car and your pocket. Should get the car back next week, it might be a little more sprightly since the cracked head renewal, It had apparently being going on a while, only noticed when white gunge was spewing out of the header tank...Ironically I was driving to D&G to get them to replace a the AOS at the time..

Steve

Welcome to the club Steve - you'll enjoy the R3 experience I'm sure, we certainly have - look forward to meeting up.

Cheers

Hi, Just a quick update, The engine is now in and running, after a test drive a small intermittent misfire on bank one, they think it is a problem with the vario cam solenoid on bank one, they will check it out on Monday only occurs low revs, higher rpm, no misfire, suggesting that it might be the solenoid. Should be fixed early next week, can't wait, going to the highlands on Friday for a few days, dying to test it out.

Steve

Good news and will certainly make your Highland trip more pleasurable indeed. Had a look at your engine when it came into D&G and thought Oh Dear. Now you don't need to think about it as long as you have the car. Great thing about Dean and Gary is that you can ring or pop in any time for advice which will hopefully save large repair bills when caught in time. Safe journey and look forward to talking to you at the next monthly meeting.

We will be driving in the Bavarian Alps/ Austria in September. ( in hire car) While we are there, we are taking a little detour and driving to the Porsche Museum, Stuttgart. I take it quite a lot of members have seen it?

Your impressions please..
