Dansk sorts exhaust on 993

I appear to have come to a weird situation regarding my 993 and new dansk sports exhausts. I fitted new Dansk system last year during a rebuild and all was well. After a few weeks I noticed that the nearside exhaust strap had broken. I ordered some new ones from design911 and forgot all about it until this weekend as I was prepping for the mot. So I threaded the new strap around the can and noticed it was about 6 inches short....further looking indicated that this new can was almost round instead of oval and had "ballooned" outwards, thus the cause of the strap splitting in the first please. There is no other damage apart from the distortion. The sides have actually folded past the end plate edges and its about 2 inches wider than the normal can. The car has done less than 1,000 miles since i fitted the exhaust (new steering wheel meant no horn so off road till i sorted that). Has anybody experienced anything similar because I haven't before. Photos available, but I can't seem to upload on here.

Having had historical quality issues with Dansk exhausts (on a 924S), I would consider removing the offending box and returning it to Dansk (or whoever you got them from), insisting they replace it, as it is faulty. Doesn’t sound right at all... exhaust boxes shouldn’t ‘balloon’ [&:] - sounds a bit like an obstruction in the unit.

Thanks for the update. I honestly thought dansk were a quality make, but it seems I am labouring under a misapprehensio. Been in touch with design911 and response so far is "out of warranty but we will speak to dansk”. they've sent a form for me to fill in, but I must say I feel anxious post my first call. Even if replaced I’m not so keen on having these products on my car now, especially if the warranty is flakey, notwithstanding the grief, time and money to replace.

If you are the original purchaser the warranty is 5 years so you are being fobbed off

I cannot for the life of me see how a box would balloon out of shape, the pressure required would be enormous

I agree. Insist on them getting this resolved with Dansk... ballooning sounds very odd, but there’s obviously some quality issue with it!

Previous owner of my car had Dansk Sports Sound exhaust mufflers on my car too. I decided to get these RSR'd by Gert Carnewal. Gert found the exact same issue on both my mufflers and was really not impressed at all - they appear to function OK but I am keeping an eye on it and will probably go back to stock boxes with an RSR modification as and when needed. Not impressed with Dansk at all.
