Need recommendations for someone to carry out diagnosis and engine rebuild for 1968 911L Sporto preferably in South East UK. 118K miles but top end was rebuilt in 2012 at 106K. Now deep knocking on idle :( :( . Not alternator bearings. DSD Motorworks did top end. How do people rate them? PM me if you like. Graham

Pay Alan Drayson a visit at Canford Classics. Near Dorchester so not exactly the south east, but it would be well worth the trip.

Thanks for suggestion. Car with DSD. Turned out to be Lt side chain tensioner failure. Luckily when last engine work carried out, chain locks were fitted so no danger of chain jumping off and wrecking valves/pistons. Able to sort by just dropping rear of engine down rarther than engine removal. Hope to have it back this week when few other bits sorted.

Luckily it was only a failed Timing Chain Tensioner and since timing chain locks had previously been fitted this did not cause additional damage. Thanks for suggestions.
Graham
