Oil temperature

Hi

I have a diesel S, today with an outside temperature of 20’C the oil temperature remained at 84’C after driving for 30 minutes. Normally it is around 104’C, but seems to vary -/+ 10’C on most trips. In my 991 the oil temperature seems far more constant.

I would be grateful for anyone’s opinion or experiences.

All the best

Hi Mike,

I happen to have had a Macan S diesel today as a loan car and noticed that after about 10 minutes it was up to 101 c . Just on a basic commute to work this morning ambient temperature about 17c, I never push the engine until the oil is over 100c.
I would have thought that 84c after 30 minutes seems quite a low reading but not sure if the diesels are different. My Cayman is normally in the range of 100-104 but takes longer to warm up as it is garaged during the week.

Hope this helps

Neil

Thanks Neil

Out and about today, it reached 102’ after 20 minutes. It is the variability that I find unusual.

It is visiting an OPC next month, so I will mention it to them.

All the best

Mike,
I had similar experience with a gen 1 Panamera 4 - symptoms were I started to notice very slow increase of oil temp from cold on my daily commute (water temperature/rate of rise appeared to be as normal) and oil temp being lower and more variable than normal.
In my case the OPC found a fault code logged on the diagnostics and replaced a faulty control valve (in the water circuit) which sorted it.

Hi Stephen

Thanks for your comment.

That sounds very similar to my experience, I will get the OPC to check the diagnostics.

All the best

Mike
