Hi all, not the usual questions but child seats for my 997.2

Hi all,
So I am a new member to porsche club, but have had porsche for some years. Anyway, I would like to get a car seat for my 2 year old to fit in the back of my 997.2 and after numerous attempts at Mothercare I am still without a car seat. Has anyone got any recommendation that actually fit? Many thanks

I have a pair of OEM Porsche child seats in case you’re interested. Believe they were a model made by Britax, from memory.

Happy to sell (need to have a think what they‘re worth), but would prefer to sell as a pair.

I used a Porsche branded car seat for my son which although expensive, it was worth it as it fitted in the back & front of the various 997's & 991's that I've had. Also the padded bottom bit of the car seat comes out & becomes a booster seat when they're older, so lasts for a long time.

Hi Scaramanga, that would be great. Do you have any photos? Where abouts are you? How old are they etc. Cheers

I work in London (E14) and live near Reigate (Surrey).

perhaps you can PM me your phone number and I can send over some details.

Have had them for about 5-6 years now.

Just to add to this thread. I have a 997.2 and tried to find a seat to go in the back and despite reading the forums and going to in car safety centre in Milton Keynes who noted that they have had the britax 2 way elite in many a porker 997 it for some reason wouldn’t go in mine. I am now torn between paying a lot of money to get the front airbag switched off or selling my car..

would be interested to know what specific porsche seat went in a 997.2 and was it only in the front seat?

thankspete

Hi,
i have a pair of Porsche OEM Child Seats, which were used in the back of my 993 and 997. They feature a detachable base which can be used as a booster when the child gets too old for the full seat.

happy for you to come try them out if helpful. believe they are a Porsche branded version of the Britax Romer.

Hi, do you still have the OEM child seat available?
I struggle like everyone else and would like to see something made for the job go in instead of squeezing in something that really shouldn't be there - I would only be interested in one though...

Hi, Halfords look like they sell some slim bodied booster seats BUT, out of interest how much do you want for one?

Thanks, that's a little more than I was expecting but you can't put a price on safety i guess.
Do you have any pictures you can send?

Sure. They are original Porsche seats and in good condition. Drop me a PM with your mobile number and I can send over some pics tomorrow.

In my 997.1 I removed the velcro bum pads and the back support. That increased space and options, allowing my daughters' cars seats to fit in, snug to the rear carpet.

When i had my 997.2 GTS Coupe, this was a seat that I found would fit in the front and rear seats without any issues. i also went through multiple mothercare visits trying all and sundry with little joy...

since changing to my 991.2 i still use the same seat for my son (he is 4 years old) the seat is narrow enough to also fit in the lite weight bucket seats in the front of my new car. not that Porsche recommend fitting any child seat in the LWB seats.
