My ignition control unit decided it didn't want to work any more :( (Porsche 924, 2ltr 1982). I was just wondering can they be refurbished ? I know its at fault as I had a spare and replaced it and all is back well :)

I seem to remember a discussion on here in the past and talk of an American company re-manufacturing them too.
I believe the problem is micro cracks in the motherboard (age) breaking the conductive strips.

Thanks for the replies, it just seams a shame to stick it in the bin if it could be fixed, although im guessing its cheaper to buy a second hand unit

If you or you know someone who is handy with a soldering iron (not a cheap maplin one) the joints could all be re-flowed quite easily and components checked at the same time. Its old school electronics in the box, not surface mount kit. Guess it depends on how quickly you want to get the car back on the road?

Good luck
