996 Help Wanted Please - Aluminium Gear stick and handbrake refurbish

Hi, I have just bought a 2004 C4 and I love it but the gearstick and handbrake could do with a little TLC. You can see they’re worn and a bit pitted. I’d be very grateful if anyone can point me towards where and how to either DIY or get someone to restore their former glory? Thanks very much in advance.

Thanks that's very helpful. I was hoping someone might actually help me out perhaps from their own experience of doing this.

You might want to try one of the leather refurbishing outfits like RoyalSteeringWheels or Southbound Trimmer's etc. Customers often discard their unwanted handbrake/steering wheels there and swap them for refurbished ones. They may have what you're looking for lying around.

I've never heard of these metal

bits being restored.
