1983 Lux passenger door locked problem. Help!

Hi all.. help gratefully needed.
My 1983 model 944 Lux has a problem which has been a PIA for a while now. Door is locked shut and will not open manually with key on outside, the ‘button’ will not pull up, and will not open by pulling the handle inside either. There is however an after market Gemini 1060 central locking/alarm system on the car and the alarm still arms and works but the central locking does not. Am not using the alarm at present. What normally happens when I press the button on my remote, the doors unlock simultaneously and the alarm disarms. And vice versa. There is a fresh battery in the remote and I know that works fine.
The doors normally unlock simultaneously too when I unlock manually with a key in the drivers door but at the moment that’s not the case. Have reluctantly had to cut into the door card (original interior beige vinyl) to access the door mechanism and still can’t see if there’s a problem- mind you I don’t know what I’m looking for..
Have considered it may be a fuse or a relay but on all the early fuse/relay charts there isn’t either for central locking..
Any help and advice would be gratefully appreciated...
Thanks in advance..

Hi Baz

Something is broken or jammed. Not entirely sure what door card manoeuvring can be done with the door shut on a square dash, maybe removing the passenger seat would help, but you would need to remove the driver seat first and then ferry both seats out the drivers door! All very awkward but doing so should allow most of the door card to be released. Either way once the door card is off it should be quite straight forward.

Good luck

Stuart
