What a difference £7.99 can make

I had the manifold off recently to replace the gaskets and decided it was looking a bit tired, anyway after a tin of Halffords high temp satin black paint (2 coats) I think things look much better[:D]

Excellent work mate [:)] I am just about to embark on a mini rebuild of my engine and was thinking of doing exactly the same but in red to match the bodywork. Wasn't sure how it would look. Thinking of doing the rigid intercooler pipes and replacing all the silicon hoses as well. Might mock it up on a photoshop first. But I am definitely more inclined to do it now.

That does look very nice, I like it a lot.

Go for red Rob, with all the hoses etc done I reckon that would look good [8D]

If you buy the Halfords stuff don't bother with the spray on stuff the depth of colour is awful.

I completely agree. The aerosol hi-temp red comes out orange!

We wanted something else than black or red, which seems to be most popular choices. Cam tower was painted with 2K epoxy high temp paint. The intake manifold was powder coated. Cam tower was not powder coated because it's rather difficult to get all oil out of it. That oil might cause trouble when part is baked in the oven. We also wanted Porsche text to be like factory original, so normal sandpaper polish was not for us. Color which was used can be found from RAL charts. In live it is a bit darker than it looks in the pictures.

If only I had such machinery at my disposal. Mine was done on the car including sanding back the lettering like you have done although I had to rely on a steady hand and a black and decker power file to do it.
