Turbo inflation!

This - http://pistonheads.co.uk/sales/3395889.htm - is the white Turbo I looked at when I bought my first 944 (S2) early this year. It was quite a tidy example.

It's been on ebay and PH on and off ever since and recently didn't sell on ebay for £3995 as a classified ad. Just seen it on PH at a slightly higher price! Someone got a bargain and is charging oober high money for it IMO. I guess fair play to him if he gets it but I don't think it's worth that money - it was a straight example and tidy and all, but just not an 8.5 grand car

Anyway, just thought I'd share my 2p on the matter [:)]

£8500 looks rather ambitious, but the main issue is that from that advert it's impossible to say what it's worth. The photography is terrible and there is really no detailed disclosure of the maintenance / restoration status at all.

Also, I would never buy a car from an advert that has even one exclamation mark in it, let alone several in a row.

If thats worth 8.5 K what should i sell / insure mine for then.

You could retire [:D]

seriously though, this white Turbo is a good, honest car. The chap had owned it 5 years and maintained it well, couldnt find anything major wrong with it - I even considered seriously buying it last month when I saw the price but then I thought I'm already on my second 944 this year, I'll stick with what I've got for longer. However, personally, I just don't believe it's worth £8.5k but then I guess if it's the right car for someone and they're prepared to pay it, happy days. I wouldn't turn down £8.5k for mine! [;)]

oops pistonheads have changed their classified adverts today , link does not longer works

Looks like PH are revamping their site and the classifieds, there's no cars for sale by the looks of things right now! Guess the link will work again soon

If a poxy Turbo is worth £8.5k Imagine what you could get for a nice early car or a proper 944 (sorry I mean S2) ?

As I mentioned a week or so back, red may (or may not) be the fastest colour, but white is definitely the most expensive. One of the last turbos sold from Pistonheads was a white turbo that went for circa £11k.

It is true that you can get a nice early car, or even one of those later turbo lookalikes (S2) for less money, but it's only common sense that the top of the range cars go for the top prices[;)]

(maybe I should add that I have not even seen the advert for the car discussed in this thread and that consequently my opinions, as usual, are next to worthless)

My track blue 88 turbo sold for 15k straight away early this year[:)]
Lovely Turbo S for sale at Gmund for over 8k
Maybe good ones are creeping the right way, lets talk em up eh?

Agreed, although the current market is relatively cheap I think £8K reflects more of a true value of these cars, lets not talk the market down further..

That was an EXCEPTIONALLY sorted, race and Championship winning car that could have been road legal though!

Was road legal Mike!Went to work in it alot😃
I think Turbos will come good in a few years.

I would be amazed if they didn't. Pretty unique really and almost every even remotely comparable contempory sports car is mega money now. Stuff like minty quattros and the e30 M3.

Good point, I still dont understand why 944 prices are so comparatively low?

I think that due to them being very well built and made, there are so many still about. The turbos will come good and probably the S2s as well. There are still plenty of pretty rotten cars out there that will be gone in a couple of years.
