Hi all, anyone any idea where I can get tailgate spares? The trim down both lower sides has broken away from it's bolts and the rubber seals are missing.
Thanks in advance!
Cheers
Paul.

Hi Paul,

Is yours a bridge-spoiler model? The side pieces are expensive, so don't lose them if they aren't fixed properly!

Hi Paul, yes it is, one of them is damaged and all the fixings with the pig-nosed nuts have come away. How expensive because I don't see how they can be repaired.
Thanks
Paul.

ive just been taking this apart tonight ,I cut a flat blade screw driver up with a dremel as a tool to remove them ,this was because my
bridge spoiler has bolts missing and is flapping around ,some of the connectors did come off ,it looks like rust gets in behind the connectors and the hockey stick type trim and then
they fall off ,theyre only glued in ,I'm gonna clean them up on a wire wheel and glue them back

by anychance does anybody know the set screw size for the bridge spoiler ? as I'm looking at them on ebay right now
I reckon m5x25? 8mm countersunk head

I thought about glueing them but one of my trims has had it. I purchased the correct pig nosed 12 screwdriver bit on internet. My bridge spoiler screws are seized solid as well. The whole issue has been mastic'd within an inch of it's life!!

I've just repaired one, screws were all rusted solid and it had completely come away.

I cleaned up the mating surfaces and used some MS polymer body kit adhesive from "Wayside Adhesives" and a selection of clamps to hold it all in place. Seems to be holding up very well at "all speeds" ;)

If you download the 968 PET from Design911 or wherever then you'll be able to see the exploded pars diagram on there.

If you unfasten the 4 bolts holding the lower horizontal spoiler trim on first then you'll have access to all the other bolts then.

Thanks all, got my drawing from the recently opened Porsche centre Portsmouth, a couple of miles from me. The spares people there are very friendly and helpful. Just ordered all the srcews to re-assemble the rear spoiler and trims. The Hockey sticks all need there studs re-attached and i had to strip about two tons of black mastic away from the parts! A right can of worms when you start! Worth looking at the rear hatch on these things if you're thinking of buying one! Still if a jobs worth doing, watches are so much easier :)

Also worth having a spare complete tailgate, than a) you can muck about restoring one at your own pace while using the other on the car, and b) with the volume of cars being scrapped these days, the era of the cheap second-hand tailgate is going to end within a couple of years.
