Road tax

Yes, renamed Vehicle Excise Duty after its earlier iteration, Road Fund Tax was dropped to avoid embarrassment to the Government because money raised never was actually used on the roads - witness the potholed disasters we have to put up with today. 😬

The 2025/2026 Changes: Further significant changes, including taxing electric vehicles, were announced in the Autumn Statement 2022 by Chancellor Jeremy Hunt, taking effect from 1 April 2025 and 1 April 2026.
