Are these worthwhile mods to gain a few more HP and a bit more torque cheaply or would'nt you notice.

1. Cat bypass pipe

2. K & N air filter or simalar

I think the general view is that these are worthwhile for sound quality alone! As for extra power, maybe or maybe not. However, combined with a live remap of the DME, you will get more power with these than without. Many RS's have these mods. In fact, I would almost say that most do!

Both are matters of personal pref.. Personally I doubt the k&N does much on it's own . The cat bypass could also be a cup pipe or g pipe depending on what bit of the exhaust you want to replace, each pipe has it's own merits! As much as i have gathered from reports the cup bypass on it's own liberates a few (less than say 5) hp but moves the torque band upwards a little(from reports i have read on rennlist and in mags). The cup pipe the same but less bass note and without the loss of torque and the g pipe is the noisiest and bassiest of the lot. You can comnine 2 of three but noise becomes a real issue. When as Simon points out you add in a remap they become better value.
