Gearbox oil change

Well i changed my gearbox oil before the club track day at brands. I went for the Mobil SHC 75w-90 and ordered it from Opie oils. Now i don't change gearbox oil that often and when i do i usually get the oil in litre bottles that have a tube attached. The little extendable tube enables you to tip the bottle and fill the box . The fill hole being not that accessable to funnels and the like. This normally works a treat.
When the Mobil oil arrived in nice 1 ltr bottles I came across a small hitch . The bottles don't come with a extendable tube. So what to do ? Well I could go and buy and automotive grade filler to do the job but they run to silly money. Laser do a nice little pump/ filler that decants 1.5 ltrs but I could'nt get hold of one in time. So I improvised. Looking at the Pro filling solutions and the laser diy filler it struck me that they all looked similar to Mr ronseal's fence sprayer. You know the one, pump it up and spray.
So of to B&Q . Duly purchased I found it worked a treat and decanted the required 3.6 ltrs in a reasonable time frame, spray nozzle removed of course! It actually holds 4 litres so is ideal for the job. It's also a fairly clean way of doing things too[:)]

Don't expect many to follow suit but there are a few who do get there hands dirty ! Track day excellent ! Only 17 cars total so had track to myself most of the time. Almost too quiet to be honest.

bACK ON TOPIC .... Did the gearbox oil change make your lap times must faster ... are we talking here 55sec or less a llap?

Thanks Laurence, you are right some of us do get our hands dirty with these cars. Its a good tip!! At the rate I'm spending money with my Indy I need to claw something back.
