Caliper Refurb

Has anybody used this company, i'm thinking of getting mine done at the end of January and was thinking of using them.

Looks like a fair price.However it didn't mention anything about plate replacement.I was alsays under the ompression that plate lift was the main problem with our calipers.I am going to refurb my calipers by removing the plates and cleaning painting etc and then replacing the plates and screws.Just make sure they are including the plate refurb in with the price and if they are I will send them mine to do as the price is really good.
 
Did anyone else notice that they offer a 20% discount for a group buy of 10 or more? Anyone else up for this?
 
They will also be charging you £45 for a single piston, dust seal and scraper! £150 is only the labour by the looks of it. Alasdair
 
I've had a reply back saying that if plates need changing there would be a charge of £21 per plate, I dont know if thats good or bad as I have not looked into this before but I'd be grateful for posts from those who have had to change them.
 
Scott, I cannot see how they would need to change the plates, they nip the pads when aluminum corrosion occurs underneath them from the caliper body pushing them on to the pad they should simply need cleaned, straightened if required and refitted, sorting the corrosion in the caliper should suffice to cure the problem. As Alasdair has said is that labour only cost, let us know.
 
Correct the plates should just need a clean and a coat of paint for prettiness and some new dome head screws. From what I can see from the add the price just includes a clean and paint. Any replacement parts are extra. A few of us on here have done them ourselves with excellent results and for very little money. I am trying to get a nice little soda blasting rig off one of my mates so should hopefully be able to offer blasting facilites for calipers reasonably soon. Alasdair
 
If I am honest Al I think the service they are offering is quite expensive for what really amounts to a clean and paint but then again I am a skinflint but also have facilities to do the work myself. However if I also know you I am sure you will be able to offer a top notch job and would be happy to reccommend you [:)]
 
I only asked about plates because it was a question brought up earlier in the post. I agree the costs does look like its for prep and painting only (however it looks like new bleed nipples are included) but then this is what I am after, I have stripped cleaned and painted many a caliper in my time but I have never quite had them turn out with this level of finish, if Alasdair can get them looking the same then im interested to hear more. How long is reasonably soon Al ?
 
I lost the use of my big blast cabinet as it owuld not fit in a 20 foot container. I want to get something up and running this month if I can get enough space cleared out in the unit as it is chock full of parts at the moment. The caliper plates only break if there is a large build up of corrosion behind them, the caliper is usually scrap then anyway as the metal holding in the clip corrodes through. Alasdair
 
Everyone up to Alasdairs then to cart some of that stuuf that is blocking the unit then when this shi**y weather sorts itself out, so he can get some room for a soda blaster.
