Brake pad dust sticking to your rims?

I have just been speaking to a disc pad manufacturer about brake dust sticking to wheel rims. Some surface treatment like powder coating seems to resist it but OEM finished rims are more prone to hot brake pad dust sticking.

Apparently a neat idea when you have thoroughly cleaned your rims is to give them a coat of a colourless 'Anti-Spatter Spray' ........ this acts as a non-stick layer and future applications of dust come off easily.

I have not tried this myself but it all makes sense, Halfords do a spray see:

It would be good to hear from anyone who has tried it, I have powder coated wheels that I use for trackdays and despite coating with Poorboys wheel wax ( highly regarded ) the brake dust is a pig to shift ( Pagid RS29s )
Anything that helps brake dust removal with no downside has to be a GOOD thing , reckon you could use it on the calipers too ?

I too got fed up of the dust staining the wheels. I now use something similar to what Paul mentions....in my case it's AutoGlym's alloy wheel sealer. It's worked pretty well so far. The brake dust cleans off pretty easy now.

I find keeping the wheels well waxed helps when it comes to removing brake dust.

Using a claybar every now and then is really beneficial too.
