Additional Gauges

Here are my AFR and boost gauges. Dave Rums on this forum made up the carbon plate for me, good price and done quickly.

I don't really think anywhere else looks very good in the 944 cockpit.

Mine is similar to Stuart's except that my panel is black painted alumimium alloy rather than carbon, and has three holes in it. At the moment it has a boost gauge, and two holes where the AFR and oil temp will be going.

Here's mine mate. Please excuse the stereo []

I made the plate out of a DIN blanking plate and cut the holes in it with a dremmel. I have now swapped the AFR and boost gauge around because I actually think the AFR is the most important and I get the best view of the gauge on the right. The gearstick gets in the way of the other. The positioning is still not ideal but it is a comprimise because I don't want to ruin my dash.

As I only have one additional gauge (boost), I have it fitted in the under-hi-fi cubby from a 968. The gauge goes where the clock is on the 968, and you are still left with a useful storage space to the left. Given that mine has the 10 speaker option, so no door bins, this cubby is about the only place for a mobile, house keys etc, so is a good option. Fits perfectly, being an original Porsche part, and eliminates the need to fabricate anything.

I wish VDO made AFR gauges.

Yeah me too. With hindsight I would have got an AEM boost gauge but wasn't planning on the AFR when I bought the boost gauge and the VDO looks soooooooooo nice! [8D]

Im kicking myself as I had a new and unsed AEM AFR gauge but I sold it in april because it had been knocking around my living room for two years, then in June I go and buy a 944.

Soooo time to buy another with a matching boost gauge me thinks.

Anyone used Zeitronix stuff, specifically this
http://www.zeitronix.com/Products/LCD/LCD.shtml

Am wondering if you couldn't squeeze the display into the dash clocks binnacle somewhere for the best stealth install.

That looks interesting if it wouldn't fit there you could always get a blank din panel and cut it to shape for the screen.

I have a boost guage installed on a converted dash vent on the drivers side. I find it a good location in use.
This allowed me to retain the AFR guage in a 968 clock cubby.
Its not an easy fit, but can be done using a Racetech Guage. My VDO unit was too big. I can reverse the install by reinstalling the original vent unit.
Sorry I cant post an image, but if you are interested and reply here with a mobile number, I will send you an image by phone.

Thanks for the offer, personally im settled on having my gauges under the stereo and yesterday I ordered a 3 din gauge panel to hose a set of AEM gauges.
