Tuesday February 10th 2004 - Classic Cars Meeting at the Ace Café
From 8.00 p.m. "" Come along and join us at the Ace Café for the Classic Cars Magazine evening, which takes place on the second Tuesday of the month. In addition to our monthly meeting venue in Richmond, this should prove to be a good meeting place for those of you who find this venue closer.

The Ace Café is a very well known venue for anyone interested in bikes and cars. There is a bike or car happening on practically every night of the week "" visit their website for further information.

We welcome any members from any region to come along, with any model of Porsche and look forward to meeting up with you and your cars for some Porsche talk and to discuss any ideas you have for events for the Region and generally. We will be bringing along our London Region Porsche Club Board, so you will be able to find us easily.

We have had a meeting with the Operations Manager and she hopes to be able to reserve approx ten spaces (maybe more) if we can turn up before 7.00 p.m. Obviously this may be too early for many, but hopefully possible for some. There is also good parking at the Café and adjacent thereto.

Winter nights are difficult to predict as far as numbers go. Please contact us by telephone or email or on the London Region Forum, so that we can have some idea of how many of you hope to attend. As mentioned above, this is Classic Cars Magazine night.
Finding suitable venues for regular meetings is very difficult in the London area, but if anyone would like to locate somewhere in, say, Islington and Docklands and/or elsewhere, this should give us quite a spread. The numbers who turn up to support the meetings will obviously determine the most popular venue.

A word of warning to anybody who attends - DO NOT PARK IN THE TILE CENTRE OPPOSITE.

There are small signs warning you of this but they are small. The car park operators also often park a dummy car in the car park to attract others.

Last week at a VW meet somebody parked there and it cost £325 to get the car released. They are menacing folk running it and I would hate to see any Porsche fans fall into the trap.

This is not an isolated incident, it has happened many many times.

menacing folk - don't you just hate them.... Long haired people with pitch forks

Is anyone going to go?

No I have to resist and say NO sorry I really need to drop the engine out of my 912 now for the rebuild. and none of the others in the fleet are road ready yet[:(]

After the last few days I think my car is refusing to come out of the garage to play, may give Feb a miss and meet you guys in March. The November meeting was cold enough!

Last time I parked on the road right outside, although it wasn't busy and the marshalls told me to move it inside, which worked out well when Tjark and Jon arrived to create a little Porsche corner!

Always a good crowd...

looks unlikely, will be looking after my daughter, bit too long a round trip for her E1 > Richmond > Ace > Richmond > E1.

Thanks for those that made the effort and turned this in to a delightful evening of Porsche talk and banter.

Sorry bangers and mash wasn't up to usual standards (mine a bit salty!) but hope you enjoyed the spread of Porkers and other classics -MGA police car, Jag XK150, brace of Jensen Interceptors, Caterham 7, Bentley, Mk1 Cortina, 1300E Escort, Mk II Crapi (sic), Jag 420......and so on.

I've got major withdrawl symptoms at the moment , I haven't driven the antichrist since October. I'm stuck for help on measuring up for a tow hook..... see here

Then I can start thinking about organising a 'remove the engine day'. I expected to be back on the road by April but maybe that is being optimistic, we'll see Ihave most of the parts now.
