993 S tyre size?

Hi All,

I need to change my rear tyres and for my late '96 993 S I can see 285 wide tyres should be fitted as standard, however 265 wides are fitted currently. The car has been lowered on bilstein shocks so wonder if a previous owner encountered tyre rub and hence the narrower with?

Would anyone have any experience or knowledge on that please?

Cheers

Ben

Hello Ben

I have Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2‘s 285/30 R18 fitted and the car is lowered to RS plus ten mm, with no issues with clearance. My rims are the original hollow spokes. Maybe double check your offset, then order your tyres.

Camskill are good btw.

regards

Barry

Cheers Barry,

I'll check they are original - report I had says Genuine Porsche 5 spoke ‘Turbo Twist’ pattern but they look like they have pretty hefty spacers on them so not sure if they are part of original wheel. Will also check offset and thanks again!

Ben

As long as the wheels are proper Porsche turbo twists, original tyre spec for 993 S rears is 285 width. The spacers may have been used because 265 width tyres had been fitted.
