If anyone is near here I'd be really keen to know how this has got to 300bhp.
http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/1293240.htm

Just pop in for me and ask what the secret is[;)]

Anyone going to Oulton on the 11th Nov or fancy a winter run out? Weds unfortunately.

Cheers
Dave

Im guessing it doesnt realy have 300bhp...?????
VERY sceptical... As I know how hard it is to extract those ponies from "our" engines....
Im betting they havnt got a rolling road printout veryfieing it either.....

Dave.
Im contemplating going up to Oulton on the 13 Nov,, Friday. Its a Trackaction day.....
Fancy that one instead...???

I asked kevin to get 300 horses out of mine when he rebuilt it....

he told me if thats what i wanted then I need to go and buy a 911.

I'm sure he could have a printout showing 300bhp... why would he lie?? [;)]

Dave, with my recent luck, going up and down the M6, on a Friday, on the 13th is just not going to happen[&:][&:][&:][&:]
Think I'll walk to the pub and stay there[;)]

Cheers
Dave

I suppose it depends which Rolling Road its been tested on, as some are , shall we say, a tad optomistic....[;)][;)][;)]

the garage can't verify the bhp, only saying that the previous owner paid somebody to improve the car to 300bhp, he reports a lightened crank and flywheel and is coming back to me with more details, he states that it handles like an Elise, I tasked him on this and asked him what suspension upgrades it has and he couldn't tell me, given the amount of BS coming from this dealer I'd take everything with a pich of salt.
Doesn't even know what a strut brace is, calls it a torsion bar,[8|] and doesn't really know what it does.

He states that he mainly deals with Maseratis but he knows a lot about Porsches because his mate has a 911[8|]

Ask if the friend of a friend's 911 is the front engined version :) Looks overpriced too.

Stu.
That speaks volumes......
Typical....[8|][8|][8|]
I didnt think they would be able to verify the BHP.. They hardly ever can....
And a lightened flywheel certainly doesnt increase the bhp.. it just frees up the engine...ie makes it spin up faster...

he rang me back this morning with some info,
brake upgrades consist of drilled discs, pagid yellows on the front and blues on the back but can't verify a caliper upgrade.
suspension upgrade consists of Koni Sport adjustables(not M030)
and here it is.................drum roll please............

300hp engine upgrade is.....................new camshafts [8|]

I think someone has been had.

I did explain as you said Dave that a lightened flywheel simply allows the engine to rev more responsively not increase the bhp, he is coming back to me on whether the crankshaft has really been lightened and whether the car has actually been on a dyno after these 'upgrades'.

After explaining that there are many that have tried to get that kind of performance from a 968 and failed and asking(nicely) that he doesn't try to bullshit he did say that he should be allowed some .. as he put it .. "theatrical licence"

just re-reading the ad.

THIS IS A ONE OFF MODIFIED 968 CLUB SPORT (NOT TRUE),
ROAD LEGAL BUT HAS A POWER UPGRADE TO 300 BHP (SEEMS NOT TRUE),
UPGRADED PERFORMANCE BRAKES (SEEMS LIKE UPGRADED PADS AND HOSES NOT CALIPERS),
RECARO RACING SEATS (AS STANDARD)
WITH 4 POINT RACING HARNESSES,
SHORT SHIFT GEAR BOX, (WHEN ASKED IF THIS MEANS A SHORT SHIFT STICK HE CAN'T VERIFY WHAT THIS MEANS)
ENGINE TORSION BAR (MEANS STRUT BRACE)
AND ROLL OVER BAR, (HARNESS BAR)
TRACK DAY WHEELS AND TYRES AND NORMAL ROAD WHEELS AND TYRES,
LIGHT WEIGHT FLY WHEEL,
THIS IS THE ULTIMATE 968 CLUB SPORT, (PROBABLY NOT AS GOOD AS MOST OF THE 968 TRACK TOOLS THAT THE REGULARS ON HERE AND 968UK USE)
PLEASE CALL US FOR MORE DETAILS! (WOULDN'T BOTHER AT THAT PRICE)

He should be reported to Trading Standards!!

He forgot to tell us about the extensive airbox mods -- see this photo -- now I see how he gets 300bhp - not !!

Its got a KLA strut brace and a Weltmeister USA harness bar. I wonder if this is the same car owned by a guy on 968UK that I sold a weltmeister bar to? ISTR he was talking about selling the car. Surely there can't be too many ppl in the UK with a weltmeister harness bar? The only one I have ever come across was the one I had sat in my shed for 5 years and sold a few months back.

Just found it [:D]

simply shocking, 300bhp from cams and air box mod...right where's my check book, here we go again...more modifying to be done hey Dave!

Coupled to tjose other tweaks ;) do you thimk we could get 320...or mor?

Sad thing is some unsuspecting person may buy into this and be rather disappointed.

it was MikeyBs(968UK) car up until July, his description in his ad was spot on so there is no reflection on the quality of the car - just the current advertiser and his 'theatrical licence', he took it in px for a Ferrari so it may owe him quite a bit and is tryng to 'big it up' as a special in order to get the money back. Probably doesn't realise that there were only 300 odd CSs so somebody is bound to know the car or a previous owner.

Jason.
Not bored already, sat on your beach...???
I bet its a bit warmer + dryer where you are than here in "sunny" Blackpool.???

I reccon we ALL need to call the seller up + tell him theres NO WAY its got 300bhp... And it wont handle like an "elise" as its a LOT heavier...."Theatrical licence" or not.....[8|][8|][8|][8|].. Or maybee were getting a bit "anal" about "our" cars...????

It might not be Brake Horse Power, It might be Brake Hamster Power. Then it really is generating 300BHP [:D]

to be fair to the dealer he now says he has altered the adverts(after being educated about 968s)
