19 - 20 September 2020

Le Mans 24 Hours

Having already made the decision to postpone the race until September, The Automobile Club de l'Ouest and the Prefecture of Sarthe, in consultation with various health safety referent bodies, have announced that the 2020 24 Hours of Le Mans will be held on September 19 and 20 without an audience.

Ensuring the safety of everyone involved was the priority and unfortunately there were too many uncertainties surrounding an event of such an international scale to allow it to continue with the usual crowds it attracts.

With the decision made unanimously, the ACO are now working towards providing a digital behind the scenes experience for fans using various digital platforms so that they may enjoy the race from the safety of their home.

Pierre Fillon, President of the Automobile Club de l'Ouest said: "This 88th edition of the 24 Hours of Le Mans will be truly special. In this singular context, the biggest endurance race in the world will take place, but unfortunately without an audience. During the past few weeks, we have been thinking about many options to share our ordeal with our fans, even in small numbers, on site next September.

“There are still too many uncertainties for our race-festival, yet we don't want to compromise on safety. Even though the consequences of this decision are sad for our fans and for us, the decision was not difficult to make because we do not want to take any risks. Rest assured, while they will not be able to come to Le Mans this year, our event will come to them. Our teams and our media partners will be active relays. We know we can count on the understanding of all."

Ticket holders (general public and ACO members) will be contacted by the ticketing service to confirm their credit.

The 88th edition of the 24 Hours of Le Mans will take place on September 19 and 20, with a start at 2.30pm local time.
