Le Mans: the Porsche Success Story – Episode 2

When a fabled motorsport event and one of the greatest car marques meet, special things happen. At Le Mans, Porsche has created moments that will last forever. In the second of six stories from Porsche Museum, as told by real legends, we head to 1971. This was the year that the Porsche 917 KH (kurzheck or ‘short-tail’) roared to a notable victory. Timo Bernhard, Le Mans winner and endurance champion, gets the lowdown on a remarkable racing car with Norbert Singer, who served as Porsche race engineer from 1969 to 2004. Norbert tells us how Porsche engineering ingenuity helped the 917 KH, arguably the greatest Porsche racing car ever, break a landmark record that lasted for nearly four decades.
