The Porsche 928 by David Hemmings
Author David Hemmings presents a complete directory of the seven distinct models in the 928 range, from the 4.5 litre model that won the 1978 ‘Car of the Year’ award to the 5.4 litre 928GTS with 350 horsepower and a massive range of torque, that ended production in 1995. Always, in Porsche tradition, the specification was improved year-on-year, as the Factory insisted that “customers must find good reasons to invest in the next model”.
This comprehensive and well illustrated review, in an attractive soft-back format, summarises the specifications and provides VIN factory numbers that identify the year of manufacture and the installation of manual or automatic transmission. Author, Hemmings, is a longtime 928 owner and is secretary of the Porsche Club Great Britain’s 928 register. His first work, The Essential Buyer’s Guide has persuaded many Porschephiles to invest in a 928, and the Review will continue to contribute to the model’s popularity.
