Taycan test drive
I was delighted to be able to take advantage of the Club newsletter offering the chance of participating in the Taycan roadshow during its week in the Cotswolds. This was based out of Calcot Manor in a lovely spot outside of Tetbury. Arriving there brought back happy memories of the last event I had attended there, which was the launch of the Maserati 4.2 Coupe many years ago. At that time the weather was great but, unfortunately, the local council had decided to top dress the route the day before, so it was with some trepidation we had headed out down the roads with the test drivers in brand new Maseratis along with lots of loose chippings!

Panamera Register Secretary, Stephen Chapman, was impressed on his Taycan test drive

Happily, this time around it was fine weather and good roads. After checks and introductions, I was sent out in a white Taycan 4S following the lead car, a Macan GTS. Although a very hi tech cockpit in comparison to what I’m used to, the Porsche basics were still very familiar and it took very little time to settle in and enjoy the drive. It was my first time in a full electric vehicle, and if that’s the future it is quite impressive. The lack of some driver interaction may offend some (no gears to worry about and it is very quiet) but the responsiveness of the car was something else and it allows even more focus on the road skills.

If you missed the chance, I would certainly recommend a test drive – definitely an eye opener.

Panamera model revision
This should now be arriving in showrooms with further improvements to battery range on the hybrid models, so it will be interesting to see how they are reviewed.

Clocking up the miles
We have clocked up a few enjoyable long journeys recently in the GTS with the clock now well over the 50k barrier. It was also into my local Porsche Centre for an air conditioning condenser replacement. Fortunately this was covered by extended warranty, as there was no evidence of impact damage, which would have been excluded.

As always, please drop me an email with any articles on what you have been up to with your Panamera over the year.

Take care

Stephen
