Spring Tour and other news

Clive Wratten writes:

This year, we explored Dorset and Wiltshire, with our base for the 17-19 May weekend being the delightful Harbour Heights Hotel in Sandbanks, Poole. As ever, the format was great driving roads to exercise our 997s, the superb company of like-minded enthusiasts, and comfortable surroundings.

Highlights included a wonderfully fresh seafood lunch taken in a private marquee at the scenic Hive Beach Cafe; a private champagne reception and gala dinner at the historic Royal Motor Yacht Club at Poole; morning coffee and pastries at the timeless and romantic five-star Summer Lodge Hotel, Evershot, and end of the day drinks, over which we recounted our shared adventures, taken on the terrace of the Harbour Heights Hotel, enjoying spectacular views directly over Poole Harbour. For some this was a reunion with old 997 friends, for others it was a chance to make new friends, and all pledged it would not be their last tour.

Many thanks go to Sam Coles for taking the lead in organising this one.

Other news
There were plenty of 997s at the inaugural Petrolicious drivers meeting at Bicester. This was a great event, with an eclectic mix of rare cars and, as usual, Porsche were very well represented. Meanwhile, the annual Porsches on the Prom at Llandudno – including the drive there and back and dinner at the Ty Gwyn pub (pictured above), where we rendezvoused on the Saturday night – was the highlight of the month for a few 997-owning friends and me. This event seems to get bigger each year, boosted by our little group, mainly from R10, which included four 997s.
