February news

This month's news from your 991 Register

As I write, Christmas is looming and two busy Porsche Club weekends are already behind us.

Joint Register Christmas party weekend
In early December we enjoyed the beginning of the festivities at our multi-Register party - 997, 991, 992 and Macan Registers with an added sprinkling of Boxster members. Lots of familiar faces and quite a few new ones joined in the fun.

L-R: David and Jacqui Peters with Amy and Gary Spencer

Praise must go to Gary for coming along in his recently acquired 991, the Ultra Violet Gen 1 GT3 RS, which is used on a regular basis on road trips, both in the UK and Europe, and can been seen at multiple trackdays each year. Ultra Violet remains a stunning colour and I love the stripe, which, along with some unique interior options, was fitted as a CXX option by Porsche Exclusive.

Many thanks go to Mike and Michelle Allen for organising the event and to all of you for bringing that extra special something to the party. If you missed out you must come along next year when, hopefully, we can tie in the dates with the Porsche Christmas event at Bicester Heritage. The venue has already been booked for 2 December with the option of the Friday night to make it a special Christmas weekend. Please put the dates in your diaries.

A Porsche Christmas
The Porsche Christmas at Bicester Heritage the following weekend was a fabulous event. I’m always on the lookout for interesting 991s and a Turbo S attracted my attention in a stunning shade of green, which I could be forgiven for thinking was Lizard. I should have recognised the registration number and, only later, I bumped into Norman Tooley, a good friend since our Ferrari days of the ‘90s and early ‘00s. Norman had recently added this stunning beast to his Racing Yellow GT3 and enlightened me on the spec.

The colour is actually 'Gelbgrun Green' a historic colour dating back to 1974. Described as greenish yellow, this was one of 15 colours chosen to be worn by the 911 IROC RSRs of that era.

Extras include aero kit, 911 turbo, carbon exterior package, 20-inch Sport Classic wheels, seat belts and instrument dials in Racing Yellow. We have a 'Skittles' group of colourful Porsches in the north, so how about a 'Smarties' group in the south? I think Gary’s RS is more of a ‘Smarties’ colour.

Phil G

Phil S is busy moving house so more from him next month and trust it is all going well.

Hope you have all settled down to 2023 and wish you a great Porsche year ahead.
