Dolomites Tour

The 991 Register nine-day trip into Europe.

Well, it all started for us all departing from different locations - some deciding to go via the Channel Tunnel crossing whilst the rest departed from Hull on the overnight crossing to Zeebrugge.

Day one
We all met up in Stuttgart in the Kongress Hotel where we all were briefed over dinner and a drink. Once we all had our ‘tour packs and rally plates’we retired for a well-earned sleep.

Day two
We all went to the Porsche factory (in two separate groups and times). This was all pre-arranged and went very smoothly. The factory is just amazing - especially for those who have never been before - seeing all models and colours being assembled on one floor (including race prep cars and GT3RSs!). Those on the afternoon visit all gathered directly outside the museum for a photo-shoot. A big thank you to the museum for allowing us to leave out cars there throughout the visit. Following the visit we had a long drive to Arabba to the pre-booked Hotel Evaldo. It was late when we arrived and the hotel had our dinner prepared for us.

Day three
All cars, washed and cleaned, were ready for our first day of passes, which included the Pordoi, Sella, Gardena, Campolongo, Falzarego, Valparola and a return to the Campolongo, as we did this in a figure of eight.

Day four
We all set off for Cortina D’Ampezzo taking in the passes of Pordoi, Fedaia, Staulanza, Giau and Falzarego on the way. After yet another welcome coffee break, we set off for Passo Tre Croce and Cimabanche, and returned to Cortina before heading back to the Evaldo Hotel. Sadly some of us were involved in a three-car accident. I was stationary when one of our tour members, not stopping, crashed into the back of my car. To top this off, another member went into the back of him. We all must remember these tours are not races but enjoyable experiences and must always concentrate!

Day five
The Stelvio Pass today. It was a long drive to get there and back but, once you’ve driven up and down the pass, it is all worth it. We also took in the Pordoi and Di Costalunga Passo to add to the fun.

Day six
We all departed Arabba and headed to Munich where we checked into the pre-booked Arthotel Munich.

Day seven
We all went to the BMW Museum. Again, for those who haven't experienced this, it’s a must for us ‘petrol heads’.

Day eight
We all set off to Saarbrucken, Germany for our final evening and de-briefing on the whole tour. We discussed our high and low points over dinner and a few beers.

Day nine
After breakfast we all said our goodbyes and departed for our crossings…until next year!
